Fantasy Football Week 12 Waiver Wire Pick Ups

It’s almost playoff time, so we need to start focusing on building our benches with guys that can help in the later weeks and if it’s the right guy handcuffing your RB.  Here are my Week 12 fantasy football waiver wire recommendations:

Quarterbacks

*Case Keenum – Houston Texans
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Jaguars

Don’t worry, Gary Kubiak can’t pull him again or Andre Johnson. The Texans owner and fans might throw him out of the building on the spot. Matt Schaub is not the answer and the Texans have a sweet playoff schedule.

*Josh McCown – Chicago Bears
Week 12 Matchup:  at Rams

Just in case Jay Cutler misses the whole year, McCown would be a solid starter on playoff teams with the Bears nice schedule.

*Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals
Week 12 Matchup:  Bye

If Dalton owners got fed up with his Jekyll and Hyde routine and dropped him, he could be huge in the playoffs if he went on a hot streak (just in time to face the Colts, Steelers and Vikings).

Running Backs

*Bobby Rainey – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 12 Matchup:  at Lions

This kid looks like Darren Sproles lite, but he has more tackle breaking ability.  He will also be the goal line back, and has 2 plus matches over the last 3 weeks.  Just think about all the headlines on fantasy websites come the end of Week 16.  “Little Bobby Rainey leads teams to fantasy championships.”

*Montee Ball – Denver Broncos
Week 12 Matchup:  at Patriots

Ball has sure looked like the goal line back over the last couple of weeks.  He is also the clear handcuff to Knowshon Moreno.

*Toby Gerhart – Minnesota Vikings
Week 12 Matchup:  at Packers

Adrian Peterson is a machine, but he has been banged up of late, so it’s time to protect your investment in case the Vikings do the same and shut him down.

*James Starks – Green Bay Packers
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Vikings

If you’re an Eddie Lacy owner, you need to have this guy on your bench.  Lacy’s physical running style can lead to injury at any time and Starks would be very good in a starting role.

*Dennis Johnson – Houston Texans
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Jaguars

Ben Tate insurance.

Wide Receivers

*Miles Austin – Dallas Cowboys
Week 12 Matchup:  at Giants

If he is out there, grab him.  Terrance Williams has struggled of late, and I expect Austin to go back to starting coming off of the bye.  If healthy, he could be money in the bank with the Cowboys playoff schedule.

*Rod Streater – Oakland Raiders
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Titans

Could be useful down the stretch if Matt McGloin stays the starter, who seems to prefer Streater.

*Brandon Lafell – Carolina Panthers
Week 12 Matchup:  at Dolphins

Starting to see healthy targets.  Hard to trust in a lineup, but just in case this keeps up, he is worth adding.

Tight Ends

*Garrett Graham – Houston Texans
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Jaguars

Maybe, just maybe Gary Kubiak had a chat with Case Keenum last week and told him he doesn’t always need to stare down his WR’s and that it’s ok to check down to his athletic TE.

*Rob Housler – Arizona Cardinals
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Colts

Very talented kid who is now healthy and becoming a bigger part of the offense.

*John Carlson – Minnesota Vikings
Week 12 Matchup:  at Packers

Hey he’s getting it done, so why not ride the hot hand if you need TE help.

Kickers

A few options if you don’t own Matt Prater, Stephen Gostkowski, Robbie Gould or Steven Hauschka.

*Dan Bailey – Dallas Cowboys
Week 12 Matchup: at Giants

*Ryan Succop – Kansas City Chiefs
Week 12 Matchup: vs. Chargers

*Adam Vinateri – Indianapolis Colts
Week 12 Matchup: at Cardinals

*Graham Gano – Carolina Panthers
Week 12 Matchup: at Dolphins

Defenses

*Giants
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Cowboys

*Ravens
Week 12 Matchup:  vs. Jets

*Saints
Week 12 Matchup:  at Falcons

*Titans
Week 12 Matchup:  at Raiders
